Can’t vs. Can

I have been in a position lately to visit and converse with many new people. One thing continues to be a theme… it’s that in expressions about life, I keep hearing the phrase , ” I can’t” or a tendency to displace responsibility for the circumstances in one’s life. This can also be called , blame.

It makes me a little sad. It makes be wonder,” what in life lead them to believe that they couldn’t choose?”

The truth is we ALWAYS have a choice. It’s a choice of attitude or circumstance. Each of us is the BOSS of what we think, say and do. Whether we remain in our current mind set or circumstances is a gift of agency. I know this is truth, because it is true for every person on earth.

I have known, read  about and heard from people that have experienced horrendous tragedies or what seems like major injustices in life, yet have found a way to take those tragedies and make something amazing of their lives. I myself, like many of you, have had some difficult life experiences. No matter the trial (health related, the result of personal choices or the choices of others) the common theme I see in those who overcome, is a journey to forgiveness and love. Forgiveness of  self, of an offender as well as a choice NOT to be a victim.  And most importantly, the recognition that Love is the ultimate healer ; love of self and of others. These are absolutely key. In every moment, we decide if we CAN or if we CAN”T.

The power to change lies in our desire to gain knowledge, to seek truth and then ACT in alignment.

I realize that “I don’t know what I don’t know”.  So, I choose to view each day as an opportunity keep learning. I love learning. I love discovering more and more about myself and how to feel, think and live a better life!  Instead of dwelling on yesterday, I choose to learn from it and move on. I keep a view into the future but I don’t wish away my days. Today is the day to feel Empowered and Inspired through finding the lesson in every experience, and it is a gift.

Whether it’s personal health and wellness, creating a successful and purposeful business, strengthening relationships, keeping my home clean and organized or facing any particular life challenge,  the chance to say ” I CAN” is divinely appointed in each of us.

Each day is a new opportunity to learn more, grow more and to give more. My days are filled with actions dedicated to creating balance between my surroundings, my responsibilities, my relationships, my spirit and working towards my dreams. I have found that when my consciousness is focused on doing good at every prompting. – my cup is filled to overflowing. I recognize that when I  am a living example of how I intend to be,  I feel most like my authentic self.
